“Petrofarhang” is the flag bearer for supporting domestic production in the petrochemical industry

In light of the recent announcement by the Supreme Leader regarding the support of national production, as well as the system’s grand plans to support domestic producers in order to strengthen the country’s industrial and economic system, 30 special process equipment were ordered for the first time in Petrofarhang’s subsidiaries, preventing the country from losing tens of millions of euros.

According to the Petrofarhang Public Relations Unit, Dr. Javad Zarepour, CEO of the holding, announced the news: Orders for the manufacture of methanol synthesis catalysts, ultra-heavy methanol reactors, heat exchangers and reformer reciprocating saws were placed for the first time in the country by this holding, and Islamic Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in this regard and has presented Petrofarhang as a model for supporting domestic production. This belief in the ability of domestic engineers and specialists has now been institutionalized in the holding, and its implementation will create a new perspective for the country’s petrochemical industry.

He continued: “In only two projects, Dena (Phase 2 of Sabalan Petrochemical Company) and Siraf Energy, 24 special process equipments have been ordered from knowledge-based companies and domestic suppliers, which has prevented the country from losing tens of millions of euros of foreign exchange, but we do not consider this our main goal and achievement because we believe that after Petrofarhang, this path has been paved for other Iranian companies so that, while believing in this important matter, they can take an easier and less costly path in terms of bearing the pressure of cruel sanctions and prevent foreign exchange from leaving the country. This equipment, weighing approximately 3,500 tons, has been ordered from Mashinsazi Arak Company, of which 16 pieces of them have been delivered to the companies or installed so far, 4 pieces of equipment are on their way to Assaluyeh, and the construction process of 4 other pieces of equipment will be completed by the end of the year.”

Referring to Petrofarhang’s pioneering move in the field of national catalyst production, Zarepour also said: “The methanol synthesis catalyst, the purchase of which will entail a significant foreign exchange cost for each methanol producing unit, was also ordered for the first time by this holding company, and the country has achieved self-sufficiency in this product. Given the presence of 12 methanol producing companies in the country (some of which will be completed in the coming years), there is now a basis for preventing the outflow of millions of dollars of foreign exchange annually and spending this amount on the development of domestic knowledge-based companies, further securing the country’s industrial independence.” The CEO of Petrofarhang added: “The acetylene hydrogenation catalyst, which was previously purchased and imported from other countries, is in the production stage for the first time in the country with the joint production of a knowledge-based company and Morvarid Petrochemical Company, in order to be a leader in this field and, on the one hand, meet the country’s needs and bring national belief in the capabilities of Iranian producers to the fore, and on the other hand, prevent the outflow of foreign exchange.” Also, the ethylene oxide catalyst and industrial wastewater treatment package used in the two petrochemical plants, Morvarid and Kimia, are also being produced and implemented by other Iranian manufacturers to continue moving in line with this national belief.
